We Mourn Our Loss

Tonight my thoughts are with David, his family and the greater family of artists to whom he was the pater familias. The finest caricaturist of, in my view, the entire 20th century and a piece of this one. And a very warm, generous human being. I’ll have more to say soon. For tonight some images and ideas in David’s own words.

  1. Jon Casey says:

Thank you for posting this video.

  2. Steve says:

Glad you could see it. He was a prince.

  3. Don Rogers says:

Steve, thanks for posting this tribute to Davis Levine who I agree was one of the best artists and caricaturist, such an influence. I am sadden once again. I plan to show this on the first day of ‘art of caricature’ class tomorrow!
I came to your site today to email if you would like to work with the students here on a caricature assignment from yourself. Mayne we could use a skype connections so you can talk to the students kinda one on one? Just a thought. If you can’t afford the time and all no problem – just trying to spice it up some.
    Best to you – Don

  4. Steve says:

Thanks Don. Let’s talk about this I think we can set something up.

  5. Wow, I never knew of David Levine’s work but it is absolutely gorgeous !!

  6. Steve says:

He’s the master, Vinnie. Should have shown him in class. Will correct that on Thurs.
    Best always,
